ALTON S. CARR SR Alton was a self employed woodsman for many years. He was an active member of the Guilford Center Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Red Sox. He served in the Korean War as a machine gunner on a M16 Halftrack; and was a Life Member of the VFW. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Hazel Andrews Carr; a sister, Madeline Brown; and four brothers, Dana, Richard, Clifton Jr., and Philip. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Cochran) Carr of Augusta; a brother, Merton Carr and his wife, Gertrude of Falmouth; two daughters, Donna Herring of Sangerville, and Kathleen Lundin and her husband, Marvin of Brownville; two sons, Alton Carr Jr. of Guilford, and Wayne Carr and his wife, Rebecca of Abbot; a stepdaughter by his first marriage, Patricia Davis and her husband, Paul of Sangerville; two stepdaughters and a stepson by his second marriage, Barbara Moore and her husband, Norman of Augusta, Donna Williams and her husband, Matt of Topsham, and Stephen Cochran and his wife, Cheryl of Dover-Foxcroft; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. "By the foot of my first wife's grave I was saved by the grace of God. Now I'm on my way to a better place, Praise God!" A graveside service will be held 10 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the Blanchard Cemetery in Abbot, with Pastor Toby Smitherman officiating. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
