ALVAH G. ROBICHAUD
NEWPORT – Alvah George Robichaud, 90, died February 25, 2006 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born August 5, 1915 at Westbrook a son of Anthony and Julie (David) Robichaud. He had been employed at a shipyard and several area woolen mills. In the late 1920’s and into the mid 1930’s, Alvah rode and raced motorcycles. He boxed under the name of Al Robbins in southern Maine, and played the drums at the Scarborough Dance Hall on Broadturn Road while his brother played the piano. He loved working with wood and every room in the house displays some of his work, from toy trains to bookshelves. His favorite tool was his wood lathe. He lived a long, productive and healthy life right to the end. He’ll be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Hazel (Rockwell) Robichaud, and son Jerry Robichaud, both of Newport; 3 daughters, Nancy and husband David Harmon, Jean and husband Ronald Lobdell, all of Sarasota, FL, and Carolyn Beske of Albuquerque, NM; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to 3 brothers and 2 sisters, he was also predeceased by a son Ron Robichaud.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. Tuesday, February 28th, at Crosby & Neal, Newport. A spring graveside committal service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
