AVIS L. EASTMAN
EXETER - Avis Louise Eastman, 96, died October 2, 2000 at a Bangor nursing home. She was born August 15, 1904 at Levant the daughter of Frank and Nettie (White) Cloudman. She graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1920, attended Farmington Normal School, and graduated with a BA in education from the University of Maine. Avis taught in public elementary schools for over 40 years. She began her teaching career in New Hampshire. After returning to Maine she taught in the towns of Glenburn, Levant and Exeter for a total of 40 years. She was a member of the Maine Teacher's Association.

She is survived by 4 sons, Thayne and his wife Dorinne Eastman of Newport, Galen and wife Jean Eastman of Exeter, Dale and wife Elaine Eastman of Corinth and Lakeland, FL, Deane and wife Sandra Eastman also of Corinth; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Eastman of Exeter; 1 brother Carl Cloudman of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ora, and son Wendell.

Friends may call 2-3 & 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Exeter Road, Corinna. A graveside committal service will be held 10 A.M. Thursday, October 5th, at the family lot, Exeter Mills Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to Westgate Manor Activity Fund, 750 Union Street, Bangor, ME 04401. The family would like to express its thanks to Dr. Thomas Hayward and Ann Bradshaw of Corinth Family Medicine, and all of the staff at Westgate Manor for their loving care of nana during the past 5 years.
