BARBARA (FOSS) HERRICK
Barbara attended Harmony schools and graduated from Harmony High School in 1935. In 1941 she married the late Howard Gifford who was killed during WWII. Barbara worked in Dexter as a housekeeper and nanny and later, during the war, worked for Reed’s Store in Harmony.
In 1946 Barbara married Paul E. Herrick. She worked in the office at Bartlett’s Woolen Mill in Harmony and sold Avon products out of their home. Later she worked as bookkeeper and Office Manager for their family owned business, Herrick Brothers Sales and Service in Guilford, until retirement in 1985.
Barbara was a member of the Morning Star Rebekah Lodge in Harmony, holding all the offices, and was an active volunteer for the Harmony Free Fair. She and her husband were instrumental in starting the Harmony Historical Society, and worked hard measuring the town roads for the 911 system. She was a founding member and secretary of the Heart of Gold snowmobile club.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and practical jokes. Barbara was a person with a positive attitude, never complaining, and always looked at the bright side of things. Barbara also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making ceramics, and she was an accomplished baker and cake decorator. The family camp in Mayfield and snowmobiling were favorite pastimes as was traveling through the northern part of the U.S. and the Canadian provinces on bus trips or with their daughter.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul E. Herrick of Harmony; a daughter, Paula (Herrick) Collier and her husband Timothy of Gardiner; grandchildren Katherine A. Evans of Cambridge, MA and Matthew D. Evans of Candia, NH; three sisters, Louise Ernest of Garland, Ada Cobb of Harmony, and Norma Littlefield of Burnham; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Myrtie Farrin.
Friends may call Monday, January 9, 2012 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the funeral home, with spring burial in the Sugar Hill Cemetery in Harmony.

HARMONY – Graveside services for Barbara (Foss) Herrick, 93, who died January 5, 2012, will be held 11 AM, Monday, June 4th, at the Sugar Hill Cemetery in Harmony.
