BELLE S. ELKINS
PITTSFIELD - Belle S. Elkins, 78, beloved wife of Phillip R. Elkins, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2009 following complications during surgery. She was born March 4, 1931 in St. Albans, a daughter of George and Laura (Estes) Field. Belle loved her church family and had tremendous faith in God and was quick to tell of God's goodness to her. She was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God in Pittsfield, where she enjoyed singing with the "Praise Team" as well as duets with her husband. Belle has a wonderful sense of humor and showed everyone the importance of a happy heart. One of her most significant achievements was receiving her CNA certificate. She loved nursing and owned and operated a boarding home in Pittsfield for many years.

In addition to her husband of Pittsfield, she is survived by 2 daughters, Elizabeth Jane Bonenfant of Ellsworth and Linda Sue Davis of Newport; 3 sisters, Goldie Hamilton of MA, Jean Gammon of Hartford, and Joyce Braley of Princeton; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Madeline Parsons, Sylvia Harding and Hazel Raymond; 2 brothers, Oral Field and Wallace Field; a daughter, Nancy L. Clark; and a son, Phillip R. Elkins, II. She enjoyed many hours of fun and fellowship with her best friends, Kathy and Roland Frost.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1st at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport with the Rev. Thomas Duperry officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
