BETTY H. WORTHEN
NEWPORT & ELLSWORTH - Betty H. Worthen, 91, passed away January 22, 2008 at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born February 5, 1916 in Hodgdon a daughter of Murdoch and Clara (Hand) Hatfield. Betty graduated from Stetson High School, Class of 1933. She married Leonard C. Worthen on November 11, 1936. Betty worked in several capacities in the Newport school system for many years. She was a longstanding member of the Peoples United Methodist Church in Newport, serving as a Sunday School teacher. She also attended the Bangor Pentecostal Assembly. She was a member of the H. G. Libby Women?s Relief Corps, and a trustee of the Coboro Cemetery Association in Stetson. Betty will be remembered for her quilts and needlework, and was also an avid reader.

She is survived by a son Dale Worthen, Esq. and wife Patricia of Ellsworth; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grand-daughters; several nephews and a niece, Sheila (Hunter) Stone of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard in 1988, and by her daughter, Darlene Ciciotte in 1992. She was also predeceased by 3 brothers, Maurice, Linwood, and Hubert; and a sister Frances Hunter.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of services. A spring committal service will be held at the funeral home prior to burial at Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
