CARL W. PEIRCE
EXETER - Carl W. Peirce, 76, died Feb 17, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor, following a long illness. Carl was born July 20, 1927, in Kenduskeag, the son of Lyle and Avis (Brann) Peirce. He attended Exeter schools and was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy, class of 1945. Following high school Carl served in the U.S. Navy during the last part of World War II. He married Virginia Southard Sept 6, 1947, in Eddington. Carl was employed at Lyle Peirce Inc. all his working life, retiring in 1994. During his retirement he continued to enjoy his daily visit with "the guys" at Lyle Peirce Inc. and he had a passion for keeping his lawn mowed. He enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Peirce of Exeter; one daughter and her husband, Marcia and Dalton Meagher of Corinna; four sons and their wives, Michael and Paula Peirce, Malcolm and Valerie Peirce, Mark and Gayle Peirce, Marvin and Sheila Peirce, all of Exeter; one brother and his wife, Lloyd and Zelda Peirce of Newport; a close cousin, Geneva Frost of Mariaville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Carl's request there are no public visitations. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at the family lot in the Ciderhill Cemetery, Exeter, in the spring. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Maine Veterans Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport.
