Carroll H. Ellis
DEXTER – Carroll H. Ellis, 77, died October 7, 2013. He was born in Littleton on December 10, 1935, a son of George and Sadie (Brewer) Ellis. He served in the U. S. Army. Carroll started his career in the shoe business in 1957 as one of the first employees of the Dexter Shoe Company here in Dexter. In 1960, he was promoted as manager of the Puerto Rico factory. In 1966 he was instrumental in opening the Milo factory, where he was manager until 1972. He then returned to the Puerto Rico factory as manager. In 1979 he was promoted as a coordinator of the Research and Development, shoe manufacturing , and the style department in Boston. He retired in 1998 after 41 years. He will be remembered as a self made man; starting at the bottom and working extremely hard to become one of the shoe makers top executives.
He is survived by 3 children, Randy Ellis and Lori Ellis, both of Houston, Texas, and Reggie “Scott” Ellis of St. Albans; a step son, Mike Ponte of Exeter; his siblings, Laura Lemar of Corinna, Carolyn Cowperthwaite of Monticello, Phyllis McKanas of Dudley, Mass. and Opal MacDonald of Webster, Mass.
He was predeceased by a brother Arnold Ellis, and 2 sisters, Olive Ackerman and Goldie Young.
