CATHERINE LOUISE HARTWELL
STETSON-Catherine Louise Hartwell, 84, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Stetson, July 5, 2009, after a long illness. She was born May 23, 1925 at a sporting camp north of Moosehead Lake in Greenville, the daughter of Ervin and Eva (Batchelder) Colbath. Catherine graduated from Corinna Union Academy. As a young woman, she sang and played the guitar on the radio.

She found her love for animals and spent countless hours caring for her sheep and young heifers. Kay was a serious fisherman, and prided herself with always bringing home the biggest catch. Her greatest joy was supporting her grandchildren in their activities, especially watching horse shows. Kay will be often thought of on cold winter nights when friends and family snuggle in her handmade afghans.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Hartwell of Rye, NH and Judy Biggar and son in law, John of Stetson; two grandchildren, Chad Marin of San Rafael, CA and Nicole Day of Exeter. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Henry, whom she worked alongside on the family farm.
