CHARLES J. CHANDLER
NEWPORT - Charles J. Chandler, 79, of Newport, passed away Dec. 30, 2004, at a Bangor hospital with his family at his side. Charles was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Dexter, the son of the late Erwin and Anna (Edgecomb) Chandler. He graduated from Dexter High School, and then he entered the Army to serve during World War II. When he returned from service he attended the University of Maine at Orono where he graduated. Charles loved to work, it was his passion in life, as well as making others laugh, he lived to put smiles on others faces. He was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Charles loved to go camping with his family and friends. He was a member of the K of C in Pittsfield, a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield, and he worked many years as a plumber and electrician.

Surviving him are his loving wife of 29 years, Jeannette (Ouellette) Chandler; a son, Wayne Chandler, three daughters, Gail Eaton and her husband, Bill, Cheryl Chandler and her husband, George Sanders, Nancy Chandler and her husband, Henry Clews; two stepdaughters, Lisa Reid and her husband, Paul, Heidi Nigro and her husband, Lenny, a stepson, Scott Whitman; two brothers, Marshall and Hadley Chandler; four brothers-in-law, Nelson, Jim, Merlon and Roland Ouellette; a sister-in-law, Joan Suhr, 17 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, many friends and a special friend, Wilbur Bean. Charles was predeceased by his parents, two sons, Gary and Kelly Chandler; and a brother, Clayton Chandler.

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, 50 Detroit Ave., Pittsfield, with Fr. Emmanuel Iheaka officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 50 Detroit Ave., Pittsfield, ME 04967, or to St. Agnes Catholic School, 6 Pine St., Pittsfield, ME 04967.
