DONALD R. SHAW
NEWPORT & ETNA – Donald Raymond Shaw, 84, died unexpectedly at his residence. He was born August 1, 1918 at Etna a son of Charles and Bessie (Ham) Shaw. He graduated from N. H. Fay Trade School in Dexter. After receiving his training as a machinist he moved his family to New Haven, CT where he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Company until he was drafted in the service. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, and participated in the Normandy invasion and the invasion of Germany. After the war his family returned to Maine. He was employed as a machinist for J. R. Cianchette in Pittsfield, and most recently, by Cooper-Weymouth of Clinton, until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna and husband Derwood Hillman of Hermon, Sandra and husband Reginald Strout of Cumberland; a step-son, Bernard Page of Winslow; a step-daughter Mary Parkhurst of California; a brother, Harold and wife Rita Shaw of Etna; a sister Virginia Treadwill of Old Town; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; as well as a brother-in-law, Magnus Richardson of Pittsfield. He always looked forward to, and will be greatly missed at the annual family summer get-togethers.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, June 27th. Burial will be in the family lot, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna.
