DOROTHY LOUISE (SCOTT) GRANT TANGUAY
GARLAND Dorothy Louise (Scott) Grant Tanguay, 80, also known as the Mitten Lady of Garland, was wrapped in the Lord’s loving arms and freed of pain on Tuesday, July 26, 2005. Dottie died at Hibbard’s Nursing Home after being cared for at home by her devoted family. Dottie was born on August 12, 1924, in Maxfield, Maine, the daughter of Cecil Lee and Ethel Inez (Davis) Scott. Dottie was a member of the last graduating class from Garland High School in 1942. After graduation she worked as a nurse’s aide at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She married Raymond E. Grant on September 4, 1943. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters. Dottie married her soul mate Lucien Tanguay on November 28, 1963. The family moved to Willimantic, CT where Lucien (papa) helped Dottie raise her 4 children as his own. Dottie was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 25 years, Lucien Tanguay; three brothers, Chester Davis, Cecil Scott Jr., Denny Scott; one grandchild Steven Beaulieu; and two great grandchildren, Matthew Kempfer and Monica Amicher.

She is survived by her four children, Joyce and her husband Jerry Wolf of Tennessee, David Grant and his wife Susy of Garland, Janice Tokarz Grant of Garland and Willimantic, CT, Robert Grant and friend Jean Perkins of Dexter; daughter-in-law Sherri Grant of Garland; two sisters, Marie Champluvier of Garland, Charlene Peavey and her husband Paul of Charleston; one brother, Edward Scott and his wife Phyllis of Garland; three sisters-in-law, Rita Lampinen, Cecile Giroux, and Gemma Tanguay, all of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Dottie will also be missed by special friend Jeanne Graham, the “Card Party Gang”, and her constant companion, Princess.

Friends may call at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter on Thursday, July 28, 2005 from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11 AM at the Garland Baptist Church, with Pastor Barry Buzzell officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Garland. Special thanks to Dr. Simon and C.C.O.M. Staff, also Hospice care providers from C.H.C.S., and the Hibbard Nursing Home staff for taking such good care of her in her final hours.
