DOROTHY MAE (FOWLER) EMERSON
PARKMAN, Dorothy Mae (Fowler) Emerson left this life to join her children, Donald, David, and Charlene in God's loving arms on her 82nd birthday, November 2, 2009. She was born November 2, 1927 in Holbrook, MA to William Alton and Helen Mae (Mann) Fowler. She was educated in Holbrook schools and in 1946 was married to Charles D. Emerson, who predeceased her in 1998. Dorothy drove school bus for many years in the Bridgewater, MA school system, a job she was very proud of. She moved around the south for a few years with her husband and sons until she came to Maine in 1991. She was totally devoted to her pets, her pony, Misty, and all of her little dogs of which Heidi (age 20) survives her. She was funny, without meaning to be, had a sarcastic wit and said whatever came to mind! She loved playing cards, especially rummy which she cheated at unmercifully! She loved hanging with the girls and Karol Curtis at KC's store, and loved visiting her friend, Charlotte Morse. She had fun being chauffeured around in her minivan, scratching lottery tickets and stopping at every yard sale in the county. She will be greatly missed for the silliness and tough love she gave her family and friends before the disease of alzheimer's robbed her of everything but her dignity. The family would like to thank the staff at Hibbard's Nursing Home for the years of outstanding care they gave her while she was there.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; her sister, Evelyn; her daughter, Charlene; and her sons, David and Donald. She is survived by her son Lee and wife Melody Emerson of Guilford, son James and wife Debbie of Parkman; granddaughter Jessica Gnade and her son Zacheriah of Cambridge; also by Debbie's children who thought of her as "Gram", Ben, Elizabeth, Rebekah, and Arielle.
