DUANE C. ROBERTS
ABBOT - Duane C. Roberts, 66, died February 22, 2002 at his residence on the Leeman Road in Abbot. He was born October 1, 1935, at the family homestead in Abbot, the son of Frank and Pearle (Crozier) Roberts. A lifelong resident of Abbot, he was educated in Abbot and Guilford schools. As a boy, he grew up on “The Farm”, along with his beloved horse, “June”. As a young man he worked as a quarryman at the Portland-Monson Slate Company. In later years he worked for the Dept. of Interior as a rodman with the U.S. Geological Survey, and was a pulp truck driver for N.W. Chadbourne and Orie White in Cambridge. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by four children, Richard F. Roberts, Jonathan D. Roberts, Jay F. Roberts, Timmothy B. Roberts, and Robin H. Roberts; nine grandchildren, Caryn, Jason, Jennifer, Stephanie, Scott, Elijah, Bethany, Aska, and Alissa; three great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Jordan Duane, and Gaige; a brother, Dr. Norman F. Roberts; two sisters, Alma B. Jenkins, and Katheryn E. Sakahara; four nieces and nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Myona G. Mitchell, in 1972, and a nephew, Ronald Mitchell. He will also be remembered by his companion, Faye Davidson of Guilford.

Friends may call at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford on Tuesday, Feb. 26th, from 6-8 pm. A committal service will be held later in the spring.
