OBITUARIES

EILEEN (CHAMBERLIN) MCPHETRE
SANGERVILLE - Eileen (Chamberlin) McPhetres, died March 30, 2002, while on tour in Mexico with her husband, Dr. Erwood Ernest McPhetres and Maine friends. She was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Orienta, Wis., to Ellsworth and Mary (Mae) Chamberlin, the youngest of five children. Valedictorian of her 1939 Port Wing High School class, Eileen next received her BS degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1943. She then interned in dietetics at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Mich. It was while practicing administrative dietetics at the University of Chicago and Swedish Covenant Hospitals, that she met and married her husband, Erwood, who was then a dental student a Northwestern University. After his graduation, she retired from dietetics and they moved to Maine, where her husband established a dental practice in Kennebunk. After their five children finished schooling, she returned to the business world as office manager for her husband's practice. 13 years later, they both retired in 1992. They then divided their time between Kennebunk and Green Valley, Ariz., where they were living at the timer of her death.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Erwood McPhetres; her two daughters, Patricia Basden and husband, John of Odessa, Texas, Zoleen Wells and husband, Russell of Yakima, Wash.; and her three sons, Terry and wife, Dixie of Newcastle, Regan and wife, Jolene of Sangerville, and Kolin and wife, Lila of Odessa, Texas. Also surviving her is sister-in-law, Elizabeth McPhetres Soper and husband, Edwin of Ellsworth; six grandchildren, Dylan McPhetres, Jonathan, Michael and Sarah McPhetres, and William and Ryan Wells, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. One sister, Blanche Chamberlin Haug; and three brothers, Ellsworth, Wendel and Clare Chamberlin predeceased her.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, Guilford. Burial will be in the family lot in Elmwood Cemetery, Guilford.

In lieu of flowers, Eileen requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, Inc., P.O. Box 346, Augusta, ME 04330-0346.
