F. ROBERT "RED" PLUMMER
EXETER - F. Robert "Red" Plummer, 78, beloved husband of Helen (Curtis) Plummer, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jan. 26, 2008, after a short stay at Orono Commons, from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born in Old Town, April 27, 1929, the son of Frank and Doris (Sargent) Plummer. Red served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and in the Army Reserves. He served in the Korean War and while in the Navy, served on the USS Willis E. Lee, during the Bay of Pigs. Red was in the military for 18 years. He later went on to work for area shoe manufacturing companies and for Soule Glass Co. Bobby, as he was known by Helen and his close family, enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and especially loved to play horseshoes, and had won several trophies for playing horseshoes. He was a member of the Brewer Eagles Club and the Veterans' of Foreign Wars. Red will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his out going personality and most importantly, as a loving husband, father, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Helen of Exeter; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin Ann and James M. Trady of Alton; his brothers and sisters, Emily Newton of Worcester, Mass., Charles Plummer and his wife, Jane, of Eddington, William Plummer of Sidney, Neb., and Dorothy Hamm and her husband, Phil, of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard Plummer and his wife, Charlotte.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at River of God Community and Worship Center, 911 West Old Town, Alton, with his son-in-law, Pastor James Tardy officiating. Interment in the springtime will be at Chamberlain Cemetery, Exeter. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
