FRANKIE W. MORTON, SR.
NEWPORT – Frankie W. Morton, Sr. 79, died March 13, 2003 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born April 6, 1923 at Plymouth a son of Walter and Vera (Savage) Morton. He attended Newport High School until the beginning of his Senior year and was the manager of the last Newport High School Football team. He also managed a number of Newport High School baseball and basketball teams. An avid sports fan, he was devoted to the Nokomis Warriors, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, and the New England Patriots. He retired from the Town of Litchfield, CT highway department and moved back to Newport. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Morrell) Morton on March 4, 2002.

Frank is survived by his 2 sons, Frank, Jr. and wife Audrey Morton of CT, Michael and wife Susan Morton of Newport; a brother, Gerald Morton of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Leona Shaw of Palmyra; 3 grandsons, Jason Morton of USAF stationed overseas, Jeremy Lehnig and Calvin Morton, both of Newport; 3 grand-daughters and a favorite nephew, Leland Shaw of Palmyra.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Monday, March 17th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, March 18th, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
