GEORGE F. GREAVES He attended Dexter High School and left school to serve in the Marine Corps. During WWII while serving in the South Pacific, George was wounded at Iwo Jima, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked in the construction business for several years and later worked for over 40 years for H.L. Tillson in Dexter, until his retirement. He was a member of the Ripley United Methodist Church and the North Dexter Grange. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Conner) Greaves; a brother, Merle; and a sister, Lena. He is survived by his wife, Leatrice Elaine (McLaughlin) Greaves of Ripley; a son and his wife, Lary and Rebecca Greaves of Ripley; 3 grandchildren, Dawnelle Arno of Parkman, John Greaves of Dexter, and Megan Smith of Hancock; 6 great grandchildren; 4 stepchildren, Roger McLaughlin, Stanley Drake, Troy O'Neal, and Roxanne Curtis; 6 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, A. Maurice Neal and his wife, Corinne of Dexter, and Clayton Neal of Bridgeton; a sister, Gladys Packard and her husband, Arthur of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Jackman Corner Cemetery in Sangerville, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating.
