Georgia (Cookson) Knowlton
NEWPORT Georgia (Cookson) Knowlton, 95, died January 22, 2012 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born September 12, 1916 in Dexter, a daughter of George and Eva (Clukey) Cookson. She moved to Pittsfield with her family at a young age. Georgia was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and retired from C. M. Almy, both in Pittsfield.

Georgia was predeceased by her husband Burns Knowlton, Sr.; a son, Burns, Jr., who was killed in Vietnam; 5 brothers Phillip, Norman, Galen, Wilbur and Alfred Cookson; and 2 sisters, Beulah and Beatrice.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Pomeroy of Newport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday, January 26th, at St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Murray officiating. Spring burial will be in the Village Cemetery, Pittsfield. Memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes Church, Our Lady of The Snows Parish Office, P. O. Box 193, Dexter, ME 04953.
