OBITUARIES

GRAYSON POOLE BISHOP
DEXTER - Grayson Poole Bishop, 84, died on April 18, 2010 at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft after a long illness.

He was born October 24, 1925 in Monson a son of Ira and Margaret (Poole) Bishop.

He graduated from Monson Academy and Maine Maritime Academy. He was employed for five years with United States Lines, of New York; sailing to Europe, the Philippines, China and Australia.

He married June Nichols of Dexter in 1950. They remained in Dexter where he wanted his children brought up in rural New England.

He worked for the Metropolitan Insurance Company for twenty-five years, and later, the Town of Dexter as Tax Assessor until his retirement. He owned Bishop Hill, and was a co-owner of Fairways Knolls Apartments in Dexter at the time of his death.

In addition to his devoted wife of fifty-nine years, he is survived by his children, Stephen and wife Paula Bishop of Veazie, Stephanie and husband Eric Haley of Waterville; four grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Bishop of Belfast, Kurt Grayson Bishop of Huntington Beach, California, Erica Haley-Morrison of Bangor, and Ryan Patrick Haley of Orono.

He was predeceased by a sister, Carlene Bishop Bickford and her husband Merle Bickford of Dover, New Hampshire.

At his request there will be no funeral services. A private committal service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
