OBITUARIES

HAROLD ALLEN MURRAY
NEWBURGH- Harold Allen Murray, 70, died September 21, 2010, at a Bangor hospital, after a long illness. He has gone to his home with our God and Creator. He was born June 17, 1940, in Chillicothe, OH, son of Walter and Louise Murray. He was an active member of East Dixmont Community Church where he engaged in fellowship and bible study. He lived his life as close as possible to the principles put forth in the words of his Lord. After his discharge from the Air Force he spent most of his life working in the woods and textile mills of Maine, the adopted state that he loved so much. He loved to fish and hunt. Harold was an avid writer and enjoyed expressing his thoughts in poems. Several articles he wrote were published in Mother Earth News. He loved to help others and shared whatever he had with those in need. He will be missed by his church family and many friends.

Harold is survived by his wife and best friend, Rita Cummings. He has 6 children by a previous marriage; 5 sons, James Murray and his wife, Terrie of Corinna, Michael Murray and his wife, Traci of Anthem, AZ, Joseph Murray of Bangor, Scott Murray and his wife, Nina of Windham, and Jon Murray and his wife, Kelley of Brewer; a daughter Julie Bennett and husband Kevin of Glenburn; 3 step children, James Cummings of CT, Mark Cummings and Laurie Cummings, both of Dixmont; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and their wives, Barry "Mike" and Shirley Murray of Columbus OH, and Jan and Sandra Murray of VA; 2 sisters, Carol Harden and Linda Cline, both of Chillicothe, OH; 15 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister Judy Kempton. Harold will be sadly missed by his good friends Bruce and Maryann Corbett of Athens; Leslie and Kurt Hinrichs of Abbot; Bob Tilson of Abbot, and many more; especially, "Lovey" ( Rita ).

A memorial service will be held 5:30 PM, Sunday, September 26, 2010, at East Dixmont Community Church, 74 Church Hill Road, with Pastor Tim Boone officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, OK 74005. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
