HAROLD M. AMES
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Harold M. Ames, 83, husband of Catherine E. (Nadeau) Ames, died March 6, 2005, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Arthur T. and Katherine (Davies) Ames. He grew up in Shirley, and graduated from Greenville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was wounded in Germany, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was employed for many years as a machinist at Fayscott in Dexter, at Millinocket Machine and Foundry in Millinocket, and at H.P. Fairfield in Skowhegan. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dover-Foxcroft. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cribbage, and being around the family members he loved so much.

Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kay of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, Brian Ames and his wife, Deborah, of Port St. Joe, Fla.; four daughters, Helen Boemmels and her husband, Dennis, of Lyman, Mary Johnson and her husband, Eric, of Brunswick, Elizabeth Adler and her husband, Ken, of Brunswick, and Jan Santerre and her husband, Shaun, of Augusta; three sisters, Lillian Herring, Phyllis Berce and Eunice and her husband, Eugene "Red" Mountain, all of Dover-Foxcroft; four grandchildren, Rebecca Ames, Brian Ames Jr. and his wife, Emily, Jared Stone and Samuel Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at the United Methodist Church, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Neil Gastonguay officiating.
