Harold had been employed as a police officer and served briefly as acting chief of the Truro, MA Police Department. He later owned and operated his own security business. Harold moved to Maine from Cape Cod in June of 2005 to be with his grandson. He enjoyed hunting and loved being with his grandson, Manuel. He took Manuel to Karate lessons and helped him obtain his black belt.
In addition to his wife of Hartland, he is survived by a daughter, Maria and husband Michael Andrews of Provincetown, MA; a son, Manuel and wife Kerry Veara, and his only grandchild, Manuel Harold Veara, all of Hartland; a brother Francis Veara, Jr. and his longtime partner, Jennifer Davis of Provincetown, MA; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Francis Anthony Davis of Provincetown, MA.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Friday, March 23rd at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Harold requested donations be made to Bangor Savings Bank, P. O. Box 328, Hartland, ME 04943; attention: Manuel H. Veara future donation fund to establish a scholarship to benefit his grandson.
