HAZEL V. ROBICHAUD
Hazel Violet Robichaud NEWPORT- Hazel Violet Robichaud, 89, passed away February 21, 2010 at a Bangor hospital following surgery for a broken hip. She was born January 25, 1921 in Masardis, a daughter of Clarence and Lillie (Burleigh) Rockwell.

When Hazel was very young, the family moved to Exeter where she attended school and later to Westbrook. During the early part of World War II, she was employed in the machine shop at the Portland shipyard. Hazel and a friend took a trip south where her brother was stationed in Mississippi.

In 1948, she married Alvah Robichaud and they were married for 58 years. She enjoyed playing the guitar at her church.

She is survived by her son, Jerry of Newport; 2 daughters, Jean Lobdell and Nancy Harmon, both of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Ida Szotek of Westbrook; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on February 25, 2006; a son Carl Litchfield; and several sisters and a brother.

Visiting hours will be held 2-4 P. M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Spring graveside funeral and committal services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, May 5th, at the family lot, Riverside Cemetery in Newport.
