OBITUARIES

HELMUT R. HASS "OPA"
HARTLAND - Helmut R. Hass “Opa”born March 1, 1920 in Berlin, Germany. He passed away peacefully on June 14, 2011 at his home with his daughter, Bea Hanson, at his side. Prior to moving to the United States from Germany in 2000, he was a retired power plant engineer. He also served in the German Navy during World War II. Some of his favorite past times were oil painting and horseback riding.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years Martha and a daughter Monika. He leaves behind a brother Ewald in Germany; his daughter Bea and husband James Hanson; grandson Thomas Fick; and granddaughters, Karin Miller, Karmen Hinman, and Kateena Hook; and 8 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace “Opa”!

Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written tributes at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
