NEWPORT - Ivan H. Nickerson, 83, died August 13, 2001 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor. He was born July 12, 1918 at Dexter the son of Fred and Elsie (Thompson) Nickerson. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war he married the late Evelyn Cross, who predeceased him in 1979. He had been employed at Snowflake Canning Company in Corinna, and retired as a bookbinder in Connecticut after 20 years, returning to Maine in 1974 where Evelyn and Ivan purchased their Fernald Road home.

He is survived by a step-son, Edward Cross of Detroit; a sister, Evelyn Dunn of Sun City Center, Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ivan will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Gabrielle and Angelica. He was predeceased by sisters Doris and Ethel, and a brother Earl.

A graveside committal service will be held 10 A.M. Thursday at the family lot, Clark's Hill Cemetery, Stetson, with the Rev. David Ray officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Newport.
