OBITUARIES

J. ALFRED "FRED" RIOUX
GUILFORD- J. Alfred "Fred" Rioux, 91, died May 30, 2011 at Hibbard Nursing Home in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born October 10, 1919, in Mackamp, Maine, son of Cyprien and Amanda (Rousseau) Rioux. He graduated from Jackman High School. Following graduation, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in Europe and Africa. After the war, he worked many jobs, attended barber school, and established himself as a barber, eventually settling in Guilford. For many years he faithfully attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Sangerville, and was a member of the Conner Trafton American Legion Post #119 in Guilford.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa (Bartley) Rioux of Guilford; 4 sons, George Rioux and his wife, Jessica of CA, John Rioux of Augusta, Joe A. Rioux Jr. of CA, and Eugene Rioux and his wife, Cheryl of Holden; 2 daughters, Candy Nelson and her husband, Ron of Guilford, and Carol Bolstridge and her husband, Larry of NH; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; many special friends and long time customers. He was predeceased by a son, Gerard.

The family greatly appreciated the care that Fred received at Hibbard's and Mayo Regional Hospital.

In lieu of flowers those who wish may make donations in his memory to the charity of your choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM, Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dover-Foxcroft with the Rev. Fr. Kent Ouellette officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford. For an online guest register, go to www.CrosbyNeal.com.
