OBITUARIES

JAMES H. ADAMS
NEWPORT - James H. Adams, 80, died February 13, 2002 at a Bangor hospital. He was born November 29, 1921 at Unity, the son of Henry and Beatrice (Foster) Adams. He graduated from Unity High School, Class of 1938 and served in the United States Army during World War II in England, France and Germany. For 20 years, he worked at Banton's Mill in Newport and later was a janitor for 20 years at Newport Elementary School, retiring in 1983. He was a former member of the Sebasticook Valley Grange of Newport.

He is survived by a son, James S. Adams of Texas; 2 daughters, Beatrice Talmadge of Newport and Sarah Giuffreda of Arizona; a sister, Lucille of Mass.; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Leona; 1 brother, Albert Adams and a sister, Helen Gould.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Saturday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where a Christian celebration of life will be held 1 P.M. Sunday, February 17th with the Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association, 122 State Street, Augusta, ME 04330.

Friends may gather at the Newport American Legion Hall following the funeral service.
