OBITUARIES

JAMES T. MCGOWAN
PITTSFIELD – James Thornton McGowan, 86, went home to be with the Lord January 31, 2011. He was born June 25, 1924 in Hartland, a son of Frank and Lala (McCormick) McGowan. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He came home and worked on the family farm with his brother Clive on the Snakeroot Road in Pittsfield. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield.

He is survived by a sister Joyce and husband James Wintle of Dexter; many nieces and nephews, including nephew David and wife Shelley McGowan of Sidney; as well as close friends and neighbors, Charles and Linda Moon. In addition to his brother Clive, he was predeceased by a sister Vivian Russell.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 5th, at Calvary Baptist Church, Pittsfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 573 North Main Street, Pittsfield, ME 04967.
