JEAN D. CHAMPEON
DOVER-FOXCROFT and BOWERBANK - Jean D. Champeon, 72, loving wife of Wayne S. Champeon, died Feb. 22, 2009, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Greenville, the daughter of Ivis and Louine (Potter) Dennison. Jean grew up in Greenville and graduated as valedictorian from Greenville High School, Class of 1954. She attended Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing from 1954 to 1957, graduating with a registered nursing degree with highest honors. Jean worked as a nurse in local hospitals, nursing homes, schools and dental offices. She had served as the health officer for the town of Dover-Foxcroft and on the board of directors for Thayer Parkway. Her interests included reading, knitting, gardening, her birds and daily crossword puzzles. Jean thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the "Hornet's Nest," the family camp in Bowerbank. She was extremely proud of the growth and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Wayne of Dover-Foxcroft; her children, John of Lincoln, Joe of Dover-Foxcroft, Jane of St. Albans, Vt., and Judy of Fairfield, and their families; a devoted twin sister, Jane (Dennison) Dean of Industry; a brother-in-law, Bruce Champeon and his wife, Pat, of Glenburn; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Warren Dean and Douglas Champeon.
Per Jean's request, services will be for the family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jean Dennison Champeon Scholarship Fund, to benefit a Greenville High School student who is pursuing a career in nursing or the medical field, care of Greenville High School, P.O.
