JOHN A. TOCE, JR.
NEWPORT - John A. Toce Jr., 45, died March 15, 2003, at a Bangor hospital following a five-year battle with cancer. He was born July 4, 1957, in Hartford, Conn., the son of John A. and Gloria (Schnitzke) Toce Sr. He was educated in Newington, Conn. schools and was a graduate of Newington High School. John joined the Marine Reserves right out of high school and was stationed at Parris Island and also in California. He was a self employed building contractor in both Connecticut and Maine. For several years he was employed at Tel Power in Newport, retiring due to ill health. John loved working in his yard, where he took pride in growing fruit trees.

He is survived by his loving parents, John and Gloria Toce Sr. of Newport; his maternal grandparents, William and Rose Litwin of Newington, Conn.; his loving son and his fiance, John Toce III and Mellisa Deschaine of East Hampton, Conn.; his loving daughter and her fiance, Angela Toce and Frank Fascione of Newport; his brother and wife, William and Connie Toce of Florida; his sister, Darlene Toce of Vermont; a much cherished grandson, Angelo V. Fascione of Newport; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered by a special aunt and uncle, Gladys and Tony Toce; special cousins, David Toce, Cheryl Langlais and Victoria Wallace, who could always make him laugh.
