JOYCE M. ARNOLD
DEXTER, Joyce M. Arnold, 79, died August 30, 2002, at a Bangor hospital.She was born July 15, 1923 in Landaff, New Hampshire, daughter of Charles and Gladys (Carr) Downing. She worked numerous years for the local textile mills and retired from Dexter Shoe Company in 1986. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter and enjoyed taking care of the flower gardens there.She enjoyed making crafts, loved birds, flowers and especially people.She was a member of the Golden Age Club and was a volunteer for Meals for ME. She was predeceased by her husband, Errold W. Arnold.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Douglas Cote of Dexter, Brenda and Gary Hanson of Ripley and Lorilee and Jay Locke of Hanson, Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Ivan and Claire Downing of New Hampshire; three sisters and their husbands, Jessie and Harold Graves of California, Myrtle and Bruce Cole of New York and Anna and Arthur Bailey of Corinna; several nieces and nephews.She will also be remembered by a wide circle of friends.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening 5-8 PM, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Dexter with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 573, Dexter, ME 04930, for the garden fund.
