KATHERENE M. MELVIN
GUILFORD, Katherene M. Melvin, 82, died November 23, 2001 at a Lake City, Florida medical center. She was born December 8, 1918 in Poland, Maine, daughter of Lloyd and Mabel Flanders. Kay worked for many years with the county extension and at one point was the county extension, Woman of the Year. She loved arts and crafts and enjoyed hooking rugs. One of Kay's favorite activities was mowing her lawn on her John Deer tractor. She was a member of the First Universalist Church of Sangerville and was a former member of the One and One Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold K. Melvin in 2000.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Ann and Gordon Manuel of Simpsonville, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Liza Manuel of South Carolina and Chad Manuel of Hudson.

Friends may call 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 27th at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday, November 28th at the First Universalist Church of Sangerville with the Revs. Kenneth Dale and Adam Tierney officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery in Sangerville. In lieu of flowers, because of Kay's love of animals, the family would like to have donations sent to the animal shelter at Foxcroft Veterinary Service, P.O. Box 418, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
