OBITUARIES

KATHLEEN M. JONES
DOVER-FOXCROFT - Kathleen M. Jones, 63, beloved wife of Kenneth R. Jones, died unexpectedly Nov. 28, 2011, in Dover-Foxcroft.

She was born July 25, 1948, in Scituate, Mass., daughter of the late Herbert R. and Jeanne (Bresnahan) Dwyer. Kathy graduated from Scituate (Mass.) High School in 1965, and University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1970. She taught English for a short time while in Massachusetts. She joined the U.S. Army and was the first woman in the Continental Army Band in Fort Monroe, Va.

Music was a very large part of Kathy's life. A gifted percussionist, throughout the years she played with the Bangor Symphony, Bangor Community Concert Band, Brewer Home Town Band, Dover Community Band, and was always thrilled to fill in with any band who needed her. As founder and manager of Dover Community Band, she wore many hats and reluctantly would even fill in as director if need be. Her dedication to Dover Community Band was matched by her enthusiasm for any musical event and the many friends she had throughout the music community. Kathy was a member of United Methodist Church, Dover-Foxcroft, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Brooksville, Fla., where she and Ken had wintered for many years.

She was an active member of Order of the Eastern Star, held a private pilot's license and throughout the years had given private music lessons. For many years she and Ken owned and operated Security Realty in the Dover-Foxcroft area.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Ken, of Dover-Foxcroft; two stepdaughters, Catherine and Michael Kessler of Litchfield and Kerry Stone and Randy King of Dover-Foxcroft; three grandchildren, Michelle Langston, Melinda Merrill-Maguire and Derrick Merrill; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Patricia Dwyer of Stockholm, Sweden, and Jeanne and Mark Grazier of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Terance and Dena Dwyer of Duxbury, Mass.; and two nieces, Colleen Dwyer and Emma Grazier.

She will be fondly remembered by special family members, George and Brenda Merrill of Dover-Foxcroft; as well as many friends.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dodie Sheffield officiating. After the service friends and family are invited to share fellowship at Harter Hall.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 62, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426 or St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 20428 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34601.
