GREENVILLE AND ORLAND- Kenneth L. Boober, 91, died January 7, 2012, at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born December 25, 1920, in Howland, son of Everett and Margarett (Arthurs) Boober.

He graduated from Bucksport High School.

During WWII Kenneth served in the US Navy and was stationed aboard the carrier Belleau Wood in the Pacific.

Kenneth is a retiree of 44 years at Champion Paper Company and received his 55 year pin in 2007, from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Ken was an active member and Past Master of the Rising Sun Lodge AF & AM #71 in Orland, and received his 50 year medal in 2009. He was also a member of the Riverside Chapter of the OES in Orland, and was a Past Grand High Priest of the State of Maine.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his retirement years enjoyed sailing and walking.

He was predeceased by his wife, Esther (Rosebush) Boober; and a daughter, Betty.

He is survived by daughters, Jane Babbidge, and Jeanne Wells; his grandchildren include, Ron and Jason Babbidge and Nearess Wells; stepchildren, Barbara Ashey, and Fred Hilterbrand; step grandchildren, Jeff and Scott Ashey, and Matt and Frank Hilterbrand; and numerous great grandchildren.

At Ken's request there are no public services planned at this time.
