KENNETH W. WHITTEN
GREENVILLE - Kenneth W. Whitten, 89, loving husband of the late Myrtice (Hancox) Whitten, died Oct. 3, 2002, at C.A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. He was born March 4, 1913, in Rockwood, the son of Guy and Eldie (Malone) Whitten. He was a lifetime member of the Ironworkers Local No. 496. He was a member of Columbia Doric Lodge No. 149 AF & AM for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor and was also a member of the Tri-county Shrine.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandra and her husband, John Ryder of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Steven and his wife, Kathy Ryder, David Ryder, Nancy Clark, John and wife, Lara Ryder, Kevin Whitten, Karen and her husband, Forrest Hartin, John and his wife, Julie Whitten, Richard and his wife, Heather Whitten, Laurie Moore; 14 great-grandchildren, Jessie, Amanda, Erick, Allison, Elisabeth, Kendra, Jordan, Victoria, Joseph, Nichole, Vanessa, Dannie, Abby, and Logan; daughter-in-law, Mariann Whitten; and sister-in-law, Norma Whitten. He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtice; two sons, Bradley K. and David M.; and three grandsons, Brian, Kendall and Craig.

A time of visitation will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Masonic Lodge in Greenville. Masonic Memorial services will be held at the Masonic Lodge 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002.
