LILLIAN Y. SAUNDERS Lillian grew up in Dexter, and married at the tender age of 17. She and her former husband, James "Bill" Saunders, worked and raised their family together on the family farm in Corinna. Lillian was employed at local woolen mills and helped raise her two granddaughters. Lillian later moved to Guilford and became a member of the Guilford United Methodist Church. She met a special friend there, Jerald Melia, with whom she spent her remaining years. Lillian received her General Education Diploma in 1993, concurrently with her granddaughters, who achieved their Associates Degree and High School Diplomas. She returned to Corinna to be near her family and became a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church, where she made many new friends. Lillian is remembered as a caring, nurturing, and funny woman who gave unselfishly of herself. She welcomed many people into her heart, where they too could share the warmth of her love. Lillian brought a sense of home into every life she touched, from those of her childhood, on the farm, of her family, and in her church. The remembrance of her giggles, her smiles, her crazy antics, her love for observing nature and peaceful cool summer days will forever be in the hearts of the ones who love her. Lillian is survived by her devoted friend of over 20 years, Jerald Melia of Corinna; former husband and father to her children, James "Bill" Saunders; her loving children, Janice Day and husband Michael, Edwin "Butch" Saunders and wife Julie; 3 Grandchildren, Rhonda Shaw and husband William, Shelia Richard and husband Moses, and Patrick Saunders; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler Richard-Wilson, Cody Shaw, Alexis Richard, Carter Shaw, and Kadence Richard, all of Corinna.
