LINDLEY W. GODSON
GREENVILLE, Lindley W. Godson, 81, died September 9, 2002 at a Greenville hospital. He was born March 2, 1921, in Rahway, New Jersey, son of William and Kate (Harrison) Godson. He received a degree in Forestry from the University of Maine in Orono and had been employed by Hollingsworth & Whitney, Scott Paper and Kimberly-Clark in Waterville, retiring in 1983. During WWII he served as a Navy pilot and was one of the few Navy flying aces.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Hall) Godson of Greenville; a daughter, Kim-Allaire Godson of Costa Rica; two grandchildren, Amie-Marie Tompkins of Costa Rica and Seth Alan Tompkins of Greenville. Affectionately known as Grumps, Lindley leaves his devoted family including a sister-in-law and her husband; nieces, nephews and many devoted friends. He will also be missed by his two dogs, Jake and Hans. He was predeceased by a daughter, Anna-Marie Godson, and a sister, Joyce C. Tuttle.

At his request there will be no services at this time. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Anna-Marie Godson Scholarship Fund or to the C.A. Dean Ambulance Fund.
