OBITUARIES

LORRAINE A. MARTINS
DETROIT—Lorraine A. Martins, 54, died December 22, 2011 at a Pittsfield nursing home. She was born March 12, 1957 in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, a daughter of Raphael and Joan (Dahill) Saint. She graduated from Dartmouth High School, Class of 1975, and received a legal certificate from Kinyon-Campbell Business School.

Lorraine was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield. She was an avid reader, excellent cook and a caring mother. She was funny and witty, and enjoyed joking with staff at the nursing home and keeping them supplied with chocolate.

In addition to her parents of St. Albans, she is survived by 2 sons, Eric and Adam Martins; a daughter, Elizabeth and husband Adam Ross, all of Detroit; 5 sisters, Monica and husband Merrill Chace of Acushnet, MA, Barbara Saint of New Bedford, MA, Joanne O’Neill , Anne Marie and husband Steve Saint-Martin ,all of San Diego, CA, Brenda and husband Walter Mendonca of St. Albans; and a dear friend and former husband, John Martins of Auburn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Thursday, December 29th at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Fr. Kent Ouellette officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, 101A First Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451. The family wishes to thank the staff at Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing for all their loving care to Lorraine. Throughout her seven years there, they weren’t just caregivers but became her friends.
