MARGUERITE (HASELTINE) LANE
Marguerite was a devoted Army wife and made a home for her husband and children in many places. She was also a secretary in various civil service capacities, including the Farmer's Home Administration office in Newport. She was a member of the People's United Methodist Church in Newport, where she served as church organist for many years. Marguerite will be remembered for her varied crafts and needlework and was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by 2 sons, John Michael Lane and wife Kathleen of Rockland, Mark Lane and wife Patricia of Newburgh; 2 daughters, Janie and husband Michael Ames of Newport, Cindy and husband David Hansberry of Litchfield, NH; a brother, Richard Haseltine and wife Virginia of Orrington; a sister Beverly and husband Robert Tillson of Dexter; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM Sunday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, January 18th, at the People's United Methodist Church, 131 Main Street, Newport, with the Revs. Ellen Bridge and George Darling officiating. Spring burial will be in the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

A graveside committal service for Marguerite Lane, wife of the late Lt. Col. John Lane, will be held 10 Friday, April 9th, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery (new cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road) Augusta, with the Rev. George Darling officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
