OBITUARIES

MARIAN EUGENIA (VIRGIE) JACOBSON ZENGER
CORINNA & LEESBURG, FLORIDA – Marian Eugenia (Virgie) Jacobson Zenger, 90, died peacefully March 26, 2003 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born March 26, 1913 at Shirley Mills, the daughter of Frank A. and Effie (Lapointe) Virgie. She attended local schools, and graduated from high school at Kents Hill School. She attended Simmons College which was affiliated with the Deaconess Hospital in Boston where she took nurses training. She worked at the following hospitals: Mayo Memorial, Dover-Foxcroft; Plummer Memorial, Dexter; and Bon Secours, Methuen, Massachusetts. Marian was also very proud of being a past worthy matron of Wassookeag Chapter # 44 OES.

She was predeceased by Roland C. Jacobson, the father of their children, Shirley Jacobson Hartley and her husband Earl of Corinna, Phillip Virgie Jacobson and his wife Jane of Portland, and Gayle Marian Verock and her husband Frank of Acton. She was also predeceased by her husband Marcellus Zenger.

Marian spent her retirement years in Leesburg, Florida, where she enjoyed volunteering in the local hospital and, especially, working in her gardens.

Besides her children, she is survived by a sister Edith Virgie Wright of West Buxton; 13 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, April 26th, at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dianne Danielson officiating. Interment will follow at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Those wishing to remember Marian in a special way may make contributions to the Corinna United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Corinna.
