MARY (TARDY) BREWER
NEWPORT & CORINNA – Mary (Tardy) Brewer, 84, died January 12, 2006 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born November 17, 1921 at Newport a daughter of Guy and Mabel (Prescott) Tardy. Mary was a graduate of Newport High School. She was a life member and past president of Barrows-Skidgel Post 105 American Legion Auxiliary. She had been an active member and Sunday school teacher for many years at the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport. She had most recently attended the Morses Corner Baptist Church in Corinna. Mary loved music, and in her early years, sang with country and western bands, having sung with Slim Clark, Dick Curliss and Curly O’Brien. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Brewer on August 21, 2005.

She is survived by 2 sons, Norbert “Guy” and wife Debbie Brewer of Corinna, Mahlon and wife Nancy Brewer of Newport; a brother, Elden and wife Sylvia Tardy of Newport; 2 sisters, Maude Smith of Newport and Janace Wesley of Lakeland, FL; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1 PM Monday, January 16th, at the Morses Corner Baptist Church, Exeter Road, Corinna, with Pastor Clarence Arno officiating. A spring graveside committal service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport.
