MAURICE E. BROOKS
CORINNA, Maurice E. Brooks, 82, died August 24, 2003, at a Pittsfield nursing home. He was born February 25, 1921 in St. Albans, son of Frank and Amy (Cook) Brooks. A long time resident of Corinna, he was a prominent dairy farmer until his retirement in 1990. A veteran of World War II, after returning from Germany, he moved to Greenville and was herdsman for the Indian Hill Farm in Greenville and Guilford. In 1965 he purchased the Fred Nutter farm in Corinna and was known for his excellent production of milk in New England. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Corinna, the Twilight Grange in Corinna and the Dawn of Hope Grange in Guilford. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the former Couples Club of Corinna, the Extension Service and was a 4H leader in Piscataquis county. Following his retirement Maurice resided in Corinna in the summers and at his home in Zephyrhills, Florida in the winters.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nathalie (Russell) Brooks of Corinna; 2 sons, Paul Brooks Sr. and his wife Judi and Edmund Brooks and his wife Wanda all of Corinna; 2 daughters, Maxine and her husband Myles Lemieux of Sangerville and Patricia Towle of Bangor; 9 grandchildren, Paul Brooks Jr. and his wife Windy of Corinna, Keith Brooks and his wife, Alana of Presque Isle, Jeffery Brooks of Exeter, Michael Brooks of Corinna, Craig Lemieux and his wife Rochelle of Sangerville, Heather Brooks of Corinna, Jennifer Brooks of Corinna, Marcia Towle of Bangor, and Lee-Ann Towle of Maryland; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Frost of Clinton; 2 brothers, Herbert Brooks and his wife, Marilyn of Dexter and Robert Brooks of Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Donald, Philip, Harold and Earl; 2 sisters, Phyllis Seavey and Joan Adkins; a son Larry Brooks; 2 granddaughters, Terri-Lynn and Amy Lemieux.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Thursday August 28, 2003, at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy and the Rev. David McLeish officiating. Burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery in Corinna. Arrangements by the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel in Corinna.
