HUGHES, MAURICE J. SR.
SEBEC - Maurice J. Hughes Sr., 62, husband of Jeannette (Morse) Hughes, died March 30, 2001, at a Dover Foxcroft hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Milo, the son of John F. and Velzora V. (Stevens) Hughes. Maurice had served with the U.S. Army. He had been employed as a truck driver and was a former police officer for the Town of Milo. He was a member of the Joseph P. Chaisson American Legion Post No. 41.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jeannette of Sebec; three sons, Maurice Jr. and Joseph, both of Ashland, Mass., Mark of Milbury, Mass.; three daughters, Patricia Boucher of Milbury, Mass., Ann Marie Fell of Ashland, Mass., Val Hughes of Dover Foxcroft; two brothers, Richard Hughes and Henry Hughes, both of Sebec; three sisters, Bessie Gray of Auburn, Mass., Shirley Lowe of Hopkinton, Mass., Lucy Cates of Garland; 15 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by many special friends.

Friends are incited to call 2-3 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, with Pastor Isaiah Hill officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
