MORRIS "PETE" WAITE
NEWPORT Morris W. Waite, 79, died February 12, 2002 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility. He was born December 19, 1923 at Rodman, NY the son of William and Mary (Sprague) Waite. Pete worked for his best friend Ted Purington, Sr. at Maine Drilling & Blasting Company for 23 years, retiring in 1989.

He is survived by a son Ronald and wife Pam Erskine of Newport; a brother, Merle "Mike" Waite of Florida; 3 sisters, Doriene Larmon and Edna Watkins, both of New York, and Gussie Munson of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda and Jakob Erskine; and a great grand-daughter, Riley Bishop. He will also be fondly remembered by special family friends, Flora and Lawrence Erskine of Newport, their children, Larry, Debra, and Sarah, and their family's. He was predeceased by a brother Bert Sixberry, and 3 sisters, Rosetta Freeman, Ella-Mae Cowles, and Dorothy Sixberry.

Friends may call 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, February 15th, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
