Neal W. Davis
He served in World War II in the European Theatre as a Forward Observer for an artillery unit of the U.S. Army's Acorn Division. Neal married Kathleen (Kay) White, July 29, 1945. He worked at Norwock Shoe in Skowhegan and later transferred to Dexter Shoe in Dexter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially loved his summers at his camp on Moose Pond in Hartland.
Neal loved children. Nothing put a smile on his face quicker than a baby. Kay surprised him with his first snowmobile in the early 70's. Neal got the "bug" and was an avid snowmobiler well into his 70's. During the summer he delighted in catching the occasional aroma of snowmobiling coming from his stored winter clothing.
Kay predeceased Neal in 1994, a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Neal married Lena Varnum in 1996. Whether they were traveling across the United States, taking day trips or playing Skip-Bo, Neal and Lena thoroughly enjoyed each other's company .
Neal is survived by his wife, Lena; his son, Colan and his wife, Jayne Davis of Holden; Lena's daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Scott Carr of Athens, and Linda and Brian Brooker of Sangerville; grandchildren, Kellianne Steeves, Tamralynn Gilman and Summer Andrews, Randy Brooker, Goldie Chase, and Jimmy and Kenny Hesselbrock; 4 great grandchildren.
