NELLIE M. (HASELTINE) BRASIER She taught school as a substitute teacher in Ripley and worked at the Baxter Canning Company in Dexter. Along with her husband, Kenneth, she owned and operated Grove Hill Greenhouse as well as the Ken-Nel Gift Shop. She was a member of the Ripley United Methodist Church where she served as the church organist for many years. She was an original member of the Christmas Carol Club and the Ripley Ladies Aid. Nellie was a member of the Ripley Grange, the Fay-Scott Band, and was a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and camping with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Linda and husband Richard Leavitt, Diana and husband David McGlinchey, Daniel and wife Tammy Brasier, Richard Brasier and companion Goldie Chase, William Brasier and companion Lisa Knight, James Brasier and significant other Sharon Nelson; 28 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by siblings Dorothy, Vera, John, Mary, Linwood “Tim”, and Aletha; a daughter Donna; a granddaughter and one great granddaughter. Nellie once wrote as part of a writing entitled, “Thoughts About Grandmothers”: “I hope my grandchildren will remember me as the kind of grandmother that my children remember Theirs…..” Yes Mom, they certainly will. We all love you. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday November 20th at the Ripley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley.
