NORMAN ARTHUR PELLETIER
SHIRLEY- Norman Arthur Pelletier, 67, died unexpectedly on December 17, 2011. Norman, "Stormin' Norman", was born on July 4, 1944 in Rumford, Maine, to Arthur and Bernadette Pelletier.

He grew up in Wiscasset and spent his high school years at Cheverus in Portland, where he played football and basketball. Norman went on to play football while he attended Kings Point Maritime Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. He also attended Northeastern University before graduating from University of Maine at Farmington in 1969. During this time he also played semi-professional football on the east coast and also played in the Canadian Football League.

Following an assignment in the military during the Vietnam war, Norman began his teaching career and was a teacher for more than 35 years in Greenville and the surrounding area. Norman's love of athletics and teaching took him back on to the playing field when he later coached football and basketball; he was also a basketball official for many years. Norman was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many wonderful camping and canoe trips through the years with his son, Todd, and friends as a scout leader and beyond.

Norman retired in 2004 from teaching, but continued to work for MEA as part of the state wide bargaining committee. He was an accomplished and gifted carpenter and built many homes in the area while also creating many cherished pieces of furniture for friends and family. After his retirement much of Norman's life involved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, researching family genealogy with his sister, tending to his day lilies, taking daily walks, and extensive traveling with his wife, Debby.

"Gramp" as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, could always be heard sharing updates and bragging about their many accomplishments. He loved his grandchildren dearly and those who knew Norm well, knew Haley and Jordan were the "light of his life".

Norman is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah (Thompson) Pelletier; a son, Todd Pelletier, and his wife Sherri, and beloved grandchildren, Haley and Jordan of Belgrade Lakes; a sister, and her husband, Ann and Ben Milster and children of Temple; a brother, Roger and his wife, Betty and family of Burnham; sister- in law, Barbara Pelletier and family of Springfield, VA.; father-in-law, Earl Thompson of Greenville; special niece, Heather Whitten and her husband, Rich, and great nephews, Bradley and Kaiden Whitten.

Norman was predeceased by his parents, a brother Raymond, and his special mother-in law, Phyllis Thompson.

Funeral services will be held 12 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the Union Evangelical Church in Greenville with the Rev. Dr. Robert Veon and the Rev. Fr. Richard Malo officiating.

Friends are invited to call from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
