OPAL E. GRAY Opal had been employed at Friend and Friend, the Edward’s Company, Berry’s Village Shop, The Corner Store, and the Newport High School in the hot lunch program. She attended the People’s United Methodist Church in Newport. She was an avid reader, loved poetry, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and family gatherings especially, as she enjoyed her family the most. Opal is survived by her husband of 62 years, Carl of Newport; 3 children,Larry Gray of Newport, Sherry Rogers and her companion Richard Kniffin of Corinna, Bonnie and husband Gil Levesque of Newport; a brother, Ronald Kinney of Avon, CT; 2 sisters, Wanda and husband Maynard Dahlgren of Pittsfield and Margaret Thompson of Suffield, CT; 2 special grandchildren, Tyler and Amber Levesque; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Karen Ann; a brother Wendell Green; a sister Ida Curtis; a sister-in-law Debbie Kinney; and a niece Patricia Jordan. A celebration of her life will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, November 13th, at the People’s United Methodist Church, 131 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Ellen Bridge officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
