RICHARD H. JONES
Dick served in the Army Air Force during WWII as part of the Commanding Generalís Air Force, also part of the Ninth Air Force in Africa, Eighth Air Force in England, and the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy. He graduated from Franklin Institute in Boston and the New England College of Pharmacy in Boston. He owned and operated Porterís Rexall in Corinna and later worked for the Dexter Pharmacy in Dexter. He was a member of many organizations including the American Legion, VFW, Dexter Club, a former member of the Dexter Kiwanis, the Maine Pharmacy Assn., Five County Pharmacy Assn. He was one of the originators of the Corinna Health Center. He started the Sun Shine Village in Corinna and served as their first president. Dick was one of the original directors of S.A.D. #48. He was also a member of the Dexter Municipal Golf Club. Dick formerly spent summers on Prince Edward Island and winters in Destin, FL.
He is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Shook of Corinna; 2 sons and their wives, Richard and Deborah Jones of West Gardiner, and William and Jill Jones of Dexter; a brother, Arthur Jones of MA; grandchildren, Deanna Myers of MN, Jessica Shook of Portsmouth, NH, Robert Jones of Boston, and Heather Jones of Richmond; a great grandson, Anthony Lane Myers of MN. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Ruth (Eastman) Jones, and a sister, Doris Churchill.
Friends may call at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter, Wednesday, April 16, 2008, from 4 to 6:30 PM. Burial will be in the Corinna Village Cemetery at a later date.
